Jobab is an AI shop assistant for Bangladeshi shop owners who sell on Facebook / Instagram / WhatsApp. The product is built. The engineering team is small. Our growth depends on real merchant relationships, not engineering velocity.

You'd be employee #2, after the senior engineer. You own the merchant side of the company.

Why this role matters

Bangladeshi shop owners don't read English blog posts. They don't sign up via cold email. They onboard when someone they trust shows them how the product works, sits with them while they connect their first page, and answers their WhatsApp at 11pm when something looks wrong.

That's the job. You are the human face of Jobab for every paying merchant — the relationship that determines whether they renew next month.


What you'll do

First 90 days

  1. Run merchant onboarding calls — walk each new merchant through connecting their Facebook page, importing their catalog, training the AI on their voice
  2. Be the first response on WhatsApp for any merchant questions — target: under 2 hours during business hours
  3. Run 4 merchant interviews per week with prospects we're trying to convert — listen, take notes, feed insights back to the engineering team
  4. Build the onboarding playbook — every merchant goes through the same steps; write them down once

Month 4 onward

  1. Hire and manage 2–3 ops associates as we scale past 200 merchants
  2. Define and track NPS, churn reasons, expansion revenue
  3. Run merchant events (workshops, Dhaka meetups)
  4. Negotiate with bKash and WhatsApp for better merchant terms as we grow volume

Who we're looking for

You probably have:

  • 2-5 years working with small Bangladeshi businesses — could be in fintech, e-commerce ops, retail, or merchant support
  • Native Bangla — most merchants speak Bangla; you'll work mostly in Bangla
  • Functional English — you'll write occasional reports for investors in English
  • Track record of figuring things out without explicit instructions
  • High empathy, low ego — you're the merchant's advocate inside the company

You'd be a great fit if you also:

  • Have used or worked with F-commerce platforms (Lazychat, Daraz, Pathao Tong, etc.)
  • Have managed a small team before (1-3 people)
  • Have built a process from scratch (not just followed someone else's)
  • Have read or written documentation
  • Are comfortable using Notion, Slack, Linear, Loom

You don't need:

  • A computer science background
  • Programming experience (you'll be in the product daily, not in code)
  • A MBA — practical merchant experience beats it
  • Perfect English

What success looks like

After 6 months:

  • 95%+ of onboarded merchants complete their first AI conversation in week 1
  • Monthly logo churn below 6%
  • Merchant NPS above 50
  • Documented onboarding playbook that doesn't require you in the room
  • 2 ops associates hired and ramping

  • Salary: ৳80,000–120,000/month based on experience
  • Equity: 0.25–0.5% ESOP, 4-year vest, 1-year cliff

Hiring process

  1. Application review — 3 business days
  2. 30-min intro call with the founder, in Bangla or English
  3. Practical exercise: spend 2 hours with one of our pilot merchants (we'll arrange). Write up what you learned in 1 page.
  4. 2-hour interview — we discuss your writeup and run through 3 merchant scenarios together
  5. Reference check + offer — 1 week

Total timeline: ~3 weeks.
